Brandman University Social Work Programs

Originally opening its doors in the 1950s, Brandman University stays true to its original mission: providing accessible degree options to working professionals. A member of the Chapman University System, Brandman operates 25 campuses throughout the West Coast in Washington and California. Specializing in programs students can complete through night classes or online, the school is ideal for students with full- or part-time jobs or family commitments.

Brandman University is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The Brandman social work department's programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Social Work Program Overview

Brandman University does not operate a separate department of social work, although the school offers both bachelor's and master's programs in the field. As such, Brandman does not list any overt goals in terms of its social work degrees. The university began offering its bachelor's program in social work in 2012, earning CSWE accreditation in 2016. Since 2012, Brandman University social work has seen a rapid increase in student enrollment in its programs. Sibyl Beaulieu, one of the first social work professors at Brandman, emphasized that Brandman's programs provide a good fit for "a returning student, a parent, or someone who is working in social services but doesn't have a degree but wants to maintain their job."

Online Social Work Programs

Brandman University currently offers both a BSW program and an MSW program online without any on-campus requirements. Both programs offer part- and full-time tracks in order to better fit the schedules of diverse students. The BSW program requires students to complete 120 credits, while the Brandman University master's in social work program requires students to complete 30 credits. The admissions requirements for each program do not differ from their on-campus counterparts: a 2.0 minimum GPA and 12 transferable credits for the BSW program, along with either a 3.0 GPA or a 2.5 GPA and GRE scores for the MSW program.

On-Campus Social Work Programs

Brandman also offers an on-campus delivery method for both the BSW program and the MSW program. Brandman offers the BSW program at 20 different campuses and the MSW program at 18 different campuses. The university's on-campus social work programs do not differ from their online counterparts except in terms of delivery method.
